Maggie (she/her)

M.A., Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hi there!

My name is Maggie. I am a provisional psychologist with a focus on supporting children, teens, and adults with learning, behavioural, and mental health challenges. I earned my master’s degree in School Psychology from Mount Saint Vincent University, where I received specialized training in assessment. At Upswing Psychology, I currently offer comprehensive psychoeducational and ADHD assessments for individuals aged 5 and older.

My passion lies in helping people better understand themselves or their children by identifying the root causes of their challenges. It can be incredibly disheartening and frustrating to watch a loved one struggle in school, with organization, their mental health, or their behaviour, even with additional supports. Ongoing struggles are often accompanied by feelings of shame and blame. I value the assessment process as a powerful tool to uncover the source of these challenges and to provide families with answers about which supports can best address them. I believe that having these answers brings not only clarity but also a sense of relief and direction. I have such a passion for assessment, and I always feel privileged to be part of that journey.

I have extensive experience working with children who face learning difficulties, including those with specific learning disorders and ADHD. I also support adults who have spent years wondering whether ADHD might be part of their story, helping them find clarity and validation through assessment. I have experience supporting the well-being and assessment needs of individuals in educational, clinical, and private health care settings.

My goal is always to make the assessment process supportive, thoughtful, accessible, and empowering, no matter your age or background!

Our practice is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Districts 5 and 6. As treaty people, and settlers on this land, we aim to honour and acknowledge all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples as the traditional keepers of the lands we work and live on. This recognition is a beginning to the work of reconciliation and decolonization we are committed to as individuals, and as practitioners in the field of psychology, which has historically been an instrument of oppression rather than of liberation.
