Katharine (she/her)

M.A., Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hello, I’m Katharine, and I work with teenagers and adults for psychological assessment. I seek to offer a supportive and collaborative approach to assessment, guided by curiosity, respect, and a deep commitment to understanding each client’s unique story.

My journey into psychology was partially shaped by my passion for assessment. Even before entering the field professionally, I was drawn to the way assessment can offer insight and direction. Many clients arrive with long-standing questions like:“Why is this is so much harder for me than it is for others?” or “Could something be getting in the way of my success?” A thoughtful assessment process can offer more than a diagnosis — it can offer understanding, validation, and a clearer path forward.

In addition to clarifying cognitive or mental health concerns, psychological assessments often play an important role in accessing academic accommodations, workplace support, or funding through government programs. As someone with a longstanding interest in equity and social justice, I see assessment as a tool that can support not just individuals, but also broader inclusion.

Before beginning, I offer a brief consultation to better understand your needs and explain what the process involves. Most assessments are conducted in person, though some (such as PTSD assessments) can be completed remotely. Sessions are paced to meet your needs — there is room for questions, breaks, and conversation along the way.

Clients frequently share that the process felt more supportive and empowering than expected — even before receiving results. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard and understood, and where the assessment itself becomes part of the healing and self-discovery process.

Our practice is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Districts 5 and 6. As treaty people, and settlers on this land, we aim to honour and acknowledge all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples as the traditional keepers of the lands we work and live on. This recognition is a beginning to the work of reconciliation and decolonization we are committed to as individuals, and as practitioners in the field of psychology, which has historically been an instrument of oppression rather than of liberation.
