Adult ADHD Assessment

What is it?

Assessment is not just for children! Often, we may get to adulthood using the survival strategies we’ve built over the course of our development, but we struggle with unanswered questions about our focus, motivation, organization, and ability to get things done.

Adults may wish to seek out a specific and targeted ADHD assessment to help to determine whether they may have undiagnosed ADHD, and to help provide recommendations for how to best navigate the challenges they're facing, whether they meet diagnostic criteria or not.

What does the process involve?

Every assessment begins with an intake consultation and questionnaire.

First, we’ll set up an in-person or virtual meeting so that we can learn more about your situation and the questions you are hoping to answer through assessment. This gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have and make sure this is a good fit for you. This consultation takes about 30 minutes and is free of charge.

If you decide to proceed, we'll book times for testing and discuss next steps. We gather information in multiple ways: clinical interviews, standardized questionnaires, and tests of attention and executive functioning. This helps us to get a comprehensive view of your strengths and challenges, and to help differentiate between symptoms of ADHD and other possible explanations.

Once we have collected all the information we need, we work on interpreting and understanding the situation so we can answer the assessment questions. We prepare a report for you and we schedule a debrief meeting to go over the results. At that meeting, we go through the report together. We make sure there is plenty of time for any questions you might have. We also go over all the recommendations in order to ensure they make sense and are a good fit for your situation. Once that meeting is done, we finalize the report and provide you with a signed copy.

How much does it cost?

Adult ADHD assessment costs a flat rate of $1,800. Payment is made at the end of the process, and can be processed through debit, credit, or e-transfer.

Our practice is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. This territory is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Districts 5 and 6. As treaty people, and settlers on this land, we aim to honour and acknowledge all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples as the traditional keepers of the lands we work and live on. This recognition is a beginning to the work of reconciliation and decolonization we are committed to as individuals, and as practitioners in the field of psychology, which has historically been an instrument of oppression rather than of liberation.
